Investigaciones como la nuestra son muy importantes para hacer cambios positivos en la sociedad. Al participar en el estudio, está ayudando a reunir información de diferentes miembros de la familia, algo que nunca se ha hecho antes. ¡Con su ayuda, podremos descubrir cómo la salud y el bienestar están conectados dentro de la familia!

Resultados de la Investigación del Estudio
Gracias a ti y a otros participantes, hemos aprendido mucho sobre cómo nuestras relaciones, familias e historias de salud familiar se relacionan con el envejecimiento saludable. Su participación en el Estudio Nacional Longitudinal de Salud de Adolescentes, Adultos y sus Padres ha llevado a algunos descubrimientos interesantes. Aquí tienes algunos ejemplos de lo que hemos encontrado:
¿La Historia Familiar Puede Predecir los Resultados de Enfermedades?
La historia de salud familiar puede predecir enfermedades crónicas más adelante en la vida.
Un estudio reciente, utilizando datos tanto del Estudio Nacional Longitudinal de Salud de Adolescentes, Adultos y sus Padres como de Estudio Nacional Longitudinal de Salud de Adolescentes y Adultos, encontró que los niños con madres que tienen antecedentes de colesterol alto, depresión y obesidad tienen mayores probabilidades de reportan las mismas condiciones. También se encontró una conexión entre los bisabuelos maternos y sus bisnietos en lo que respecta a la diabetes.
Este estudio muestra la importancia de la familia, la biología y las relaciones con las enfermedades crónicas. Al aprender más sobre las condiciones interfamiliares, podemos entender mejor cómo se transmiten estas enfermedades. Esto afecta cómo se descubren, manejan y mejoran las condiciones.
¿Cómo Afecta la Salud de un Padre la Relación Romántica de su Hijo?
Sí, al parecer la salud física de un padre influye en el estado de la relación romántica de su hijo adulto.
Los investigadores descubrieron, con datos del Estudio Nacional Longitudinal de Salud de Adolescentes, Adultos y sus Padres y el Estudio Nacional Longitudinal de Salud de Adolescentes y Adultos, que la salud física de un padre impacta la relación romántica de su hijo. Los hijos adultos que tienen padres con una salud física más pobre pueden ser menos propensos a estar casados.
La cercanía emocional entre padres e hijos, así como la frecuencia con la que se ven, también están relacionadas con el resultado de la relación romántica del hijo adulto.
¿Difieren las Relaciones entre Padres e Hijos según la Raza, la Etnia y el Género?
Sí, un nuevo estudio muestra que la relación de un padre con su hijo varía según el género, la raza y la etnia.
La relación entre un padre y su(s) hijo(s) es importante. A medida que los niños hacen la transición a la adultez, los padres les brindan apoyo de muchas maneras, incluyendo emocional y financieramente. Este estudio, utilizando datos del Estudio Nacional Longitudinal de Salud de Adolescentes, Adultos y sus Padres y el Estudio Nacional Longitudinal de Salud de Adolescentes y Adultos, encontró que las hijas reportan una menor cercanía con su(s) padre(s) en la adolescencia en comparación con los hijos, y que la cercanía entre padres e hijos se reporta más alta entre los adolescentes negros. El estudio también mostró que los padres ayudarán más financieramente a sus hijos, en comparación con lo que sus hijos les darán a ellos, incluso cuando entran en la edad adulta.
